There is insufficient evidence to establish a link between the use of ibuprofen and susceptibility to coronavirus or the worsening of symptoms caused by the virus, an expert review has concluded.
The review by the Commission on Human Medicines (an advisory body of the MHRA) followed reported concerns about the use of ibuprofen and other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) in connection with coronavirus.

“The Commission on Human Medicines has advised that patients can take paracetamol or ibuprofen when self-medicating for symptoms of Covid-19, such as fever or headache.
“We welcome this thorough review of all the available evidence relating to ibuprofen and coronavirus, which will help the many thousands of people caring for themselves and others at such a challenging time.
“Of course, anyone taking ibuprofen or any other over-the-counter medicine for any reason should always read the label and follow instructions carefully.”
